We are proud of every child who enters our door here at Greenmount. We are a friendly and popular primary school in inner city South Leeds, Beeston. We can see the potential of every child and encourage them to be successful Greenmountaineers who climb to the top of their mountain. We praise loudly; and blame softly. We are a two form entry school with a 78 place Nursery, Reception through to Year 6. School is organised in 3 phases – Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception); Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6).

Our
History
Greenmount Primary School used to be called Dewsbury Road School and was located near Rowland Road and Dewsbury Road, it was over 100 years old.
The school had a maypole, here are some photos of them Maypole dancing.
These photographs show the classrooms from Dewsbury Road Primary School.
Can you see any differences and similarities with our school today?
Some of its children have become old ladies and gentlemen.
The school was old the council decided to build a new one and rename it Greenmount as the side of it is on Greenmount Street.
Before the new school was built the old one burnt down.
Greenmount moved into Cockburn Sixth Form Block.
Finally, Greenmount was ready and opened on June 30th1988 by Councillor Ernest Morris. We also have a photo that looks like Princess Anne visited.
Here are some photos of Greenmount when it first opened, you might be able to find someone you know.
Please contact school and let us know if you have any more history about Greenmount or Dewsbury Road Primary School, we would love to hear it.
