At Greenmount we intend for DT to be inspiring, practical and purposeful. Pupils will:

Solve real and relevant problems in a variety of contexts – designing and making Something for Somebody for Some Purpose.

Develop their technical knowledge by exploring structures, mechanical systems, electronic processes, computer programming, textiles and food.

Greenmount implements DT within its curriculum by:

Learning and building on a range of practical and technical skills, testing their ideas and critiquing and evaluating both their own products and the work of others

Evaluating past and present products to develop a critical understanding of DTs impact on daily life and the wider world

KS2 children will focus on designers and events that have shaped the world enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the skills and traits of a successful designer.

The impact of this is:

Pupils will be competent designers and develop an interest and a love of DT. This will enable them to be effective learners throughout their journey at Greenmount and to be fully prepared for the next stage of their technology education.
