Hello! Welcome to Early Years.

At Greenmount, we provide our youngest pupils with a broad and enriching curriculum set within a vibrant learning environment. Our provision is extensive and well resourced, led by experienced and knowledgeable Early Years staff. Our curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced to ensure progression from Nursery to Reception and prepares pupils for their journey into Year 1 and beyond. Alongside periods of focused adult-led teaching, pupils are also encouraged to lead their own learning following their own curiosities and staff, in turn, interact with every child to maximise their learning potential.

Early Years consists of one Nursery class and two Reception classes. We have a 78 place Nursery, running morning and afternoon sessions of 39 places each. It is led by a teacher and three teaching assistants. There are two Reception classes of 30 pupils, each with a teacher and teaching assistant. All classrooms offer an array of play experiences from mark making to building to role play. Our outdoor provision provides learning on a bigger scale with a mud kitchen and a sand pit that pupils can climb into, large building materials and a place to climb and swing.

Early Years is a special part of school and pupils remember their time with us fondly. We accept children into Nursery the term after their third birthday and children begin their Reception year the September after they are four. Nursery application forms can be obtained from the school office. We warmly welcome visitors into our setting if you think Greenmount might be the school for your child. We look forward to meeting you!
